If you are looking for a unique summer activity, the Tyrolean Zugspitz Arena offers a special water adventure: stand-up paddleboarding, also known as “supping”. On Lake Heiterwanger See, a crystal-clear mountain lake surrounded by peaceful nature and imposing mountain peaks.

The Heiterwanger See is the heart of SUP activities in the region. Here you will find the SUP station where you can hire boards and where guided tours start. The lake is known for its calm waters, which are ideal for both beginners and experienced paddlers.

What SUP activities are available?

Stand-up paddleboarding fits perfectly into an active summer holiday in Austria. The following tours are offered:

  • SUP tours at sunrise: One of the most popular experiences is paddling at sunrise. The lake is almost completely calm and the sky turns a soft pink. The perfect setting for nature and photography lovers.
  • SUP tours at sunset: In the evening, the warm golden light illuminates the mountain peaks and creates a relaxed atmosphere. These tours are popular with families and groups.
  • SUP tours at night: Some providers organise night-time SUP tours with LED lights attached to the board. A unique experience!
  • SUP tours to the Plansee: You can paddle between the Heiterwanger See and the Plansee via a narrow connecting canal. This allows for longer day trips in an impressive mountain lake landscape.

At the SUP station, you can easily rent a board, paddle and safety equipment. You will receive clear instructions and beginners can opt for a short introductory lesson.
