Canyoning in the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena

Gorges, jumps & water adventure

When you want an active summer holiday in Austria and are looking for adventure involving nature, water and elevation, canyoning is the perfect choice. In the impressive mountain gorges at the foot of the Zugspitze, a unique outdoor experience awaits, combining jumping, sliding, abseiling and swimming.

What is canyoning and why here?

Canyoning (also known as Schluchteln in the Alps) means that, together with a guide, you climb up to a mountain gorge and then descend toward the valley via water, wet rocks, waterfalls, slides and jumps. In the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena, waterfalls, massive rock walls and turquoise mountain water create the perfect setting for such an adventure.

Canyoning at the top of a waterfall
Who, what and how?

Both beginners and experienced canyoners will find the right route here, ranging from family or introductory tours to intensive vertical canyoning with abseil points of 25 metres or more.
What do you need? A wetsuit, climbing harness, helmet, sturdy shoes and a rope for abseiling. Guided by a professional instructor, you make your way through the gorge step by step: climbing, sliding over rocks, jumping into pools, abseiling along waterfalls, and finally swimming or wading through cold mountain water.
